The
Macedonian
nation
celebrates
Saturday
the
100th
anniversary
of
its
statehood
founded
on
the
three
historical
cornerstones
-
Ilinden
Uprising
in
1903,
First
ASNOM
Assembly
in
1944
and
gaining
independence
of
Republic
of
Macedonia
in
1991.
Revolutionary
activities,
which
culminated
with
Ilinden
Uprising,
were
carried
out
by
the
Macedonian
Revolutionary
Organization
established
in
1893
and
its
coryphaei
Goce
Delcev,
Gjorce
Petrov,
Dame
Gruev,
Jane
Sandanski,
Pitu
Guli
and
many
other
fighters
that
made
sacrifices
for
ousting
the
Ottoman
regime.
The
decision
for
starting
the
big
uprising
was
made
at
Thessaloniki
Congress
in
January
1903
and
four
months
later
in
spite
of
the
divisions
whether
the
conditions
were
ripe
for
the
uprising,
the
decision
was
confirmed
at
Smilevo
Congress.
The
highest
achievement
of
Ilinden
Uprising
was
the
establishment
of
Krusevo
Republic,
phenomenon
on
the
Balkans,
founded
on
democratic
and
republican
principles,
following
the
example
of
Paris
Commune.
Krusevo
Republic
was
a
state
with
democratic
character,
including
President,
Parliament,
Government,
committees
and
information
center
for
cooperation
with
the
consuls.
The
goals
and
objectives
of
the
uprising
were
reflected
in
Krusevo
Manifesto,
an
important
document-announcement
in
Macedonian
language,
which
included
the
democratic
ideas
for
co-existence
and
unity
among
nations.
Although
defeated
after
only
ten
days,
Ilinden
Uprising
and
Krusevo
Republic
will
be
a
foundation
and
experience
on
the
future
road
for
national
and
social
liberation
and
will
define
the
directions
and
historical
perspective
for
realizing
the
idea
of
Macedonian
statehood
with
first
ASNOM
Assembly
in
1944.
The
Second
Ilinden
of
the
Macedonian
nation
is
the
first
Assembly
of
the
highest
institution
of
the
revolutionary
government
-
Anti-fascist
Assembly
for
National
Liberation
of
Macedonia
(ASNOM)
held
on
August
2,
1944
in
St.
Prohor
Pcinski
monastery.
The
Assembly
attended
by
116
delegates
and
Presidium
headed
by
Metodija
Andonov
Cento
represents
the
constitution
of
the
Macedonian
state.
Several
decisions
were
adopted
at
the
Assembly,
including
the
Declaration
on
basic
rights
of
citizens
in
democratic
Macedonia
and
the
decision
on
proclaiming
the
Macedonian
language
for
official
language
in
the
Macedonian
state.
In
the
recent
Macedonian
history,
the
independence
gained
from
former
SFRY
represents
the
third
Ilinden.
On
September
8,
1991,
the
citizens
of
Macedonia
cast
their
votes
for
indepedence
at
Referendum.
Over
95
percent
of
the
citizens
voted
"in
favor."
The
first
President
of
independent
and
sovereign
Republic
of
Macedonia
was

Gligorov.
