On
the
occasion
of
the
58th
anniversary
from
Skopje's
liberation,
Mayor
Risto
Penov
organized
a
reception
Wednesday
for
the
fighters
that
took
part
in
the
capital's
liberation,
which
was
also
attended
by
representatives
of
the
diplomatic
corps
in
the
country.
Greeting
the
present,
president
of
the
city
board
of
Skopje
Fighters'
Union
Mile
Stefanovski
emphasised
that
he
was
happy
that
Skopje,
"managed
to
stand
high
despite
all
the
destruction",
while
the
commander
that
led
the
city's
liberation
58
years
ago
Trajko
Stojkovski-
Buzo
stated,
"we
will
not
allow
divisions
and
plundering
today,
in
the
way
we
didn't
in
the
past".
On
this
occasion,
the
representatives
of
the
12th
Macedonian
Brigade
awarded
a
memory-plaque
to
US
Ambassador
to
Macedonia
Lawrence
Butler
as
a
token
of
gratitude
for
the
fight
of
his
country
against
terrorism.
Afterwards,
numerous
delegations
put
fresh
flowers
to
the
monument
of
Skopje
liberators.
Besides
the
delegations
from
the
city
of
Skopje
and
Skopje
municipalities,
along
with
delegations
from
the
fighters'
delegations,
Macedonian
Army,
Skopje
Red
Cross,
Skopje
Women's
Association,
the
Jewish
Community
and
a
lot
of
citizens.
The
marking
of
November
13
continued
on
bridge
"Goce
Delcev",
which
was
renovated
in
the
course
of
the
year
with
the
assistance
from
the
French
Government
in
amount
of
Euro
1,5
million.
Mayor
Risto
Penov
and
French
Ambassador
Jean
Francois
Terrell,
who
received
award
"November
13",
marked
the
formal
ending
of
this
reconstruction.
The
surviving
fighters
of
the
12th
Macedonian
Brigade
stood
before
the
monument
of
Skopje
defenders
at
Matka,
alongside
Army
senior
officers.
Defence
Minister
Vlado
Buckovski
paid
tribute
to
the
survived
fighters
for
the
great
victory
over
fascism
at
the
celebration,
which
was
attended
by
the
Army
Chief
of
Staff
Metodi
Stamboliski
and
representatives
of
the
diplomatic
corps.
"Allow
me
to
congratulate
you
on
your
feats
at
the
day
of
the
great
victory
for
free
Skopje.
At
the
same
time,
I
want
to
assure
you
that
nobody
can
or
must
ever
deny
your
contribution
in
World
War
II
for
the
continuity
of
the
Macedonian
state,
up
until
its
independence
and
as
integral
part
of
Europe
and
the
world",
Minister
Buckovski
emphasized,
adding,
"we
are
part
of
Europe,
and
we
have
values
and
capacities
to
take
our
deserving
place".
"This
path
is
neither
easy,
nor
short,
but
we
remain
resolute
in
our
objective
to
stride
along
the
progressive
world
in
the
Euro-Atlantic
institutions,
NATO
and
the
European
Union",
Buckovski
underlined.
