INTERIOR
MINISTRY
SAYS
NO
COMMANDERS
OPERATE
IN
TETOVO
Macedonian
Information
Centar
(Feb
18,
2004)
(MIC)
- Interior
Ministry
Spokesperson
Mirjana
Kontevska
denied
Tuesday
the
claims
of
VMRO-DPMNE
leader
Nikola
Gruevski
that
there
is
no
rule
of
law
in
Tetovo
and
that
the
town
is
left
at
the
mercy
of
commanders
of
terrorist
groups,
which
according
to
Gruevski,
operate
in
the
region.
The
Ministry
of
Defense
denied
Gruevski's
allegations
that
the
Ministry
of
Defense
and
BDI
stroke
a
deal
to
shift
the
barracks
in
Tetovo
to
another
location
for
the
sake
of
the
Tetovo
university.
SDSM
spokesperson
Boris
Kondarko
dismissed
Gruevski's
claims
as
unacceptable
and
given
with
unbearable
lightness.
Hisni
Shaqiri
from
BDI
said
his
party
had
no
information
that
in
the
region
of
Tetovo
armed
groups
operated.
"The
Ministry
of
Interior
and
the
Ministry
of
Defense
have
full
control
of
the
territory
of
the
Republic
of
Macedonia
at
the
moment
by
way
of
constant
patrolling
and
presence
in
all
the
former
crisis
areas.
However,
the
Interior
Ministry
carefully
checks
any
information
that
individuals
or
groups
are
conducting
military
drills
in
the
region
of
Tetovo.
Neither
the
Interior
Ministry,
or
the
Ministry
of
Defense,
or
the
Macedonian
Army
have
any
information
that
such
groups
or
individuals
exist.
"In
addition,
we
cannot
understand
since
when
the
addresses
of
the
Interior
Ministry
and
the
Ministry
of
Defense
moved
to
the
headquarters
of
VMRO-DPMNE
and
its
leader
Nikola
Gruevski,
so
they
have
that
information.
Otherwise,
what
they
say
must
be
fabrications
for
the
sake
of
satisfying
petty
political
goals,"
Mirjana
Kontevska
says
in
her
denial
posted
on
the
Interior
Ministry's
official
web
site.
