Chronology of tragic event in which President Trajkovski was killed

Macedonian Information Agency (Feb 27, 2004) (MIA) SKOPJE - King Air plane, property of the Macedonian Government Thursday took off to Mostar. Boris Trajkovski, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dimka Ilkovska - Boskovic, adviser of the President for the public relations, Risto Blazevski, advisor of the President, Anita Lozanovska, advisor of the President, Mile Krstevski, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Boris Velinov, security, Ace Bozinovski, security, Marko Markovski, pilot, and Branko Ivanovski - pilot were on board the plane.

A chronology of the flight, the accident and all events connected with the tragic death of Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski, delegation's members and flight crew members follows.

February 26

06:48 - King Air takes off from Skopje Airport to Mostar en route of the Area Controls - Skopje - Albania - Serbia and Montenegro - Bosnia.

08:01 - SFOR Air Traffic Control (ATC) loses the plane from the radar control in the region of Stolac, some 30 kilometres south of Mostar. Air Traffic controllers of SFOR French contingent executed the duties at that moment.

08:15 - SFOR ATC informs the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the radio contact with Macedonian Government's plane carrying Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski is lost, The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Covic reported.

11:00 - The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Covic, confirms that the plane of the Macedonian delegation crashed at Stolac near Mostar.

11:30 - The spokesman of the Interior Ministry of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nedzad Vejzagic, informed that the rescuing teams found the place where the plane crashed and that nobody survived.

11:40 - A representative of Bosnian authority informed that rescuing teams found the plane's remains in the region of Bitunje village, Berkovici municipality.

13:30 - The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Covic, informed that CAA established an investigating team to investigate all circumstances. He added that the Council of Ministers of BIH sent Security Minister Barisa Colak and Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic at the place of accident.

16:00 - SFOR Search and Rescue teams and teams of Bosnian Government that searched after the remains of Macedonian President Trajkovski's plane, stopped the investigation on that location and found nothing. The investigation continued on other locations of the Mountain Vrsnik.

16:30 - The spokesman of the Macedonian President's cabinet, Andrej Lepavcov stated that there was no official report on the fate of President Trajkovski and his associates, who traveled with him.

16:45 - Macedonian delegation led by Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski arrived at Skopje airport from Dublin, where Macedonia's application for EU membership should have been submitted.

17:00 - SFOR spokesman David Sullivan denied that the location of the crushed plane was found. Minister Barisa Colak and Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic also stated that the location of the crashed plane was not found.

17:00 - The Constitutional Court has not received until now any official report on President Boris Trajkovski's fate, President of the Constitutional Court Liljana Ingilizova - Ristova stated.

17:30 - Macedonian Government held an exceptional session.

19:30 - Session of the Security Council of the Republic of Macedonia.

20:30 - The search after President Boris Trajkovski's plane is cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

February 27

07:00 - SFOR troops with helicopters continue the search after President Trajkovski's plane. Team of Macedonian Special governmental body headed for the place of accident.

08:00 - A rescuing helicopter unit located the place where Macedonian plane crashed, Search and Rescue team of the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) of Bosnia snd Herzegovina informed.

10:00 - Macedonian Minister of Justice informed that at 10:15 a.m. the first helicopter of the Bosnian authorities, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Medzida Kres, headed for the place together with a technician.

10:30 - SFOR official representatives and Bosnian police informed Macedonian President's cabinet on the location of the crashed plane.

11:00 - Two bodies and the plane's tail were found in the region of Rotimlja, some 20 kilometers of Mostar, Bosnian official investigation representative Ismet Jamakosmanovic stated.

11:30 - The plane carrying Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski crashed at 524 peak elevation near the village of Huskovici, 15 kilometers far from Mostar, Bosnian media informed.

12:00 - Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski's body and eight other bodies were found by the rescuing teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFOR and Macedonian representatives," Macedonian Government's spokesman Saso Colakovski informed, pointing out that the information is still unofficial.

12:30 - Deputy Prosecutor Roksana Krstevska stated that one carbonized and one unburnt body, and parts of five bodies were found.
