Chronology of Government activities regarding tragic death of Trajkovski

Macedonian Information Agency (Feb 27, 2004) (MIA) SKOPJE - Regarding Thursday's tragic event - the plane crash, which carried Macedonian President Trajkovski, the Macedonian Government took over the following activities:

26.02.2004 - Right after receiving the news after 08,00h when the airplane was lost by the radar control, the Government established a Coordination Body, which basic task is to determine the factual situation along with the federal authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and cooperation in the entire investigation proceeding. Justice Minister Ixhet Memeti is the chairman of the Body, also consisted of around 20 experts. It includes State Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, team from the investigation department, two investigation judges, two public prosecutors, representative from the Intelligence Agency, 5 experts from the Civil Aviation Administration and 5-member team from the Forensics Institute, led by doctor Aleksej Duma.

10,30h, 26.02.2004 - Parliament Speaker Ljupco Jordanovski holds meeting with Defense and Interior Ministers Vlado Buckovski and Hari Kostov. Afterwards, meetings were also held with the Public Prosecutor Aleksandar Prcevski, President of Constitutional Court Liljana Ristova-Ingilizova, Justice Minister Ixhet Memeti, Government Vice-Premier Jovan Manasievski, Government Secretary-General Mile Zecevik and Prime Minister's National Security Advisor Laze Kitanovski.

26.02.2004 - Contacts with Chief of President's Cabinet. The President's Office has been sealed in cooperation with the Defense and Interior Ministries.

12,00h, 26.02.2004 - A note is sent to the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which states that the crash site at mountain Risnik in Ljubina municipality has been determined around 11,00h.

12,45h, 26.02.2004 - Minister Buckovski, PM's National Security Advisor Kitanovski and Vice-Premier Manasievski meet with VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski and VMRO-DPMNE vice-president Ganka Samoilovska Cvetanovska.

13,00, 26.02.2004 - Members of Coordination Body set off for Mostar, in order to determine the factual situation at the site.

13,30h, 26.02.2004 - Press conference of Vice-Premier Jovan Manasievski, who informed on the course of events until 13,00h.

26.02.2004 - Regular contacts of Defense Minister Vlado Buckovski with NATO Commander for Europe Jones and Commander of NATO South Wing, Admiral Johnson, who confirmed the crash.

26.02.2004 - Macedonian Public Prosecutor contacts Federal Public Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

26.02.2004 - Minister of Interior Hari Kostov contacts his counterpart from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

26.02.2004 - Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanik close to crash site.

26.02.2004 - Regular contacts with Government Body, Parliament Speaker and President's Cabinet for better coordination and cooperation.

16,00h, 26.02.2004 - Government delegation, led by PM Branko Crvenkovski, who left for Dublin on February 25 on occasion of the submitting of the application for Macedonia's EU membership, cancels the ceremony of application and returns to Skopje.

17,00h, 26.02.2004 - Statement by PM Branko Crvenkovski, who expresses deep regret on the tragic event, emphasizing that nation's unity, statehood capacity, democratic maturity and high social awareness are necessary. State institutions will continue to function normally and responsibly in accordance with Constitution and laws.

17,30h, 26.02.2004 - Extraordinary session of Macedonian Government, which passed following conclusions:

- Flags at state institutions to be lowered to half-mast;

- Proclamation of three-day national mourning, beginning from February 27;

- Country suffered huge loss, but all institutions function normally in accordance with the Constitution and the laws, while security of the citizens is not brought into question;

- Government asks citizens to stay calm, not to believe in any misinformation, because there is no room for panic.

19,30h, 26.02.2004 - Session of Security Council.

09,30h, 27.02.2004 - Macedonian Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski meets EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, followed by statements by the above-mentioned and Parliament Speaker Ljupco Jordanovski.
