Greetings from Pope John Paul II and Russian President Putin on Ilinden Holiday

Skopje, August 4 (MIA) - The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Head of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Jonh Paul II sent Tuesday a greeting note to President Branko Crvenkovski on the occasion of the national holiday Ilinden.

"I pray the God to give strength to your people to boost the national unity and to build more noble society with the respect of different identities," says the Pope John Paul II in the congratulation note.

President Putin welcomed the intention of the Macedonian authorities for expansion of traditional friendly relations between the two countries.

"I am convinced that the development of bilateral cooperation is mutual interest of the Macedonian and Russian nations. I wish you success, peace and prosperity," Putin says in the note. hs/nd/13:18/mia/MTnet/
