POLL:
Citizens
should
make
a
decision
on
new
territorial
organisation

The
decision
on
the
new
territorial
organization
of
the
Republic
of
Macedonia
should
be
made
by
the
citizens
from
the
affected
municipalities,
a
great
number
of
those
polled
consider,
i.e.
51,3%.
The
Institute
for
Sociological
and
Political-Legal
Researches
conducted
the
poll,
July
23-29.
The
poll
includes
1,200
Macedonian
citizens
answering
the
questions
in
regard
to
the
newly
proposed
territorial
organization
of
the
local
self-government.
Thirty
percent
of
those
polled
consider
that
the
decision
on
the
new
territorial
organization
should
be
made
by
the
Parliament
(64,2
of
them
are
Albanians
and
17,2%
Macedonians),
while
18,6%
consider
the
councils
of
the
affected
municipalities
should
make
such
decision.
On
the
question
whether
the
decentralization
and
new
territorial
organization
are
a
whole
and
should
be
reviewed
in
a
package
or
they
are
two
different
things
that
should
be
reviewed
separately,
67%
of
those
polled
consider
they
are
two
different
things
and
32%
consider
they
should
be
reviewed
in
a
package.
Eighty-four
percent
of
those
polled
consider
that
the
capability
of
the
self-government
units
to
perform
the
work
under
their
competence
should
be
a
criterion
for
the
new
territorial
organization,
no
matter
of
the
ethnic
structure,
while
15%
consider
that
the
municipalities
should
be
ethnically
clean
or
with
dominant
population
of
a
same
ethnic
group.
Ninety-two
percent
of
the
Macedonians
and
63,1
of
the
Albanians
support
the
first
option,
while
35,4%
Albanians
and
6,9%
Macedonians
support
the
second
one.
Sixty-nine
percent
of
those
polled
consider
the
new
territorial
division
of
the
municipalities
firstly
should
be
voted
in
a
referendum
and
then
to
be
included
into
the
agenda
of
the
Parliament,
as
30%
gave
negative
answers.
