Macedonian-Croatian relations good example for the region, Kostov and Sanader say

Macedonian Information Agency (Sep 07, 2004, 4:38:26 PM (GMT+01:00)) (MIA) - The Macedonian-Croatian relations are friendly and they could serve as a good example for regional cooperation, Prime Ministers of both countries, Hari Kostov and Ivo Sanader said after Monday's meeting.

"There are no open issues between the two countries and Skopje and Zagreb pledge for stronger co-operation in all spheres, especially in economy," Sanader said.

Both Prime Ministers assessed that Macedonia and Croatia should boost the cooperation in the sphere of Euro-integration, especially in the part where Macedonia could use the Croatian experience in submitting the application for EU membership and in responding the European Commission's questionnaire.

"Macedonia and Croatia must reach political stability and economic prosperity in order to attain full-fledged EU membership," Croatian PM added.

"The project United Europe has no chances for success if the Southeast European countries are not included. But, the criteria and the individual demands of the EU must be accomplished," Sanader said.

Macedonian and Croatian Foreign Ministers Ilinka Mitreva and Miomir Zuzul signed Cooperation Agreement refereeing to the Approximation and Accession of both countries towards the EU.

The annual trade exchange between Macedonia and Croatia is relatively balanced and this year it is expected to range US 160 million, both PMs said.

Kostov announced possibility for signing an agreement with Croatia for season engagement of workers from Macedonia in the Croatia's shipyards.

In direction to intensifying of the economic cooperation is the Economic Forum organized by Macedonian Commerce Chamber, focusing on direct communication between businessmen from both countries, and intensification of the economic cooperation.

In regard to the Ljube Boskovski's case, Sanader said that he is in the hands of the judiciary and the Government has no intention to be involved in the case, adding that the Croatia's court will conduct the case objectively and professionally.

Croatian PM also met Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski and Parliament Speaker Ljupco Jordanovski.
