PM Kostov meets Kosovo Civil Administrator Petersen

Macedonian Information Agency (Sep 10, 2004) (MIA) SKOPJE, Macedonia - Macedonian Prime Minister Hari Kostov met Thursday with UN Civil Administrator to Kosovo, Soren Jessen Petersen.

At the meeting, Petersen proposed the opening of a free trade office and signing of an interim agreement with the Kosovo administration, as well as establishment of an air link with Skopje Airport.

The opening of a free trade office and signing of an interim agreement have the objective to alleviate the regime of goods transfer and decrease of smuggling and illegal border crossings on both sides.

The initiative for establishment of an air link for communication with the Skopje Airport is part of the project of the Stability Pact for opening of the sky over Kosovo. The use of the services of the air-flight control at the Pristina Airport would contribute to the strengthening of economic relations and intensification of regional air traffic.

PM Kostov accepted the initiatives, which should be presented and verified by the Macedonian Government.

Kostov informed Petersen on the amendments in the Law on Local Elections, the decentralization law package, and economic reforms. On the other hand, Kosovo Civil Administrator informed the Macedonian PM on the upcoming elections in the province. mi/ik/17:04/mia/MTnet/
