SKOPJE,
Macedonia
- In
the
past
13
years
Macedonia
has
won
a
status
for
a
respectable
subject
in
the
international
community
and
it
is
seen
as
a
serious
candidate
for
EU
and
NATO
membership,
President
Branko
Crvenkovski
stated
in
the
interview
with
Macedonian
Television
(MTV).
"Macedonia
has
started
without
an
army,
without
its
own
institutions
and
without
numerous
international
friends.
In
the
past
13
years
many
mistakes
have
been
done
and
many
things
could
have
been
done
better.
But
the
fact
is
that
in
the
past
13
years
Macedonia
has
became
an
independent,
sovereign
and
internationally
recognized
state,"
Crvenkovski
stated.
"With
he
accession
into
the
United
Nations
in
1993,
Macedonia
has
made
the
right
step
that
opened
possibilities
to
use
all
international
instruments
in
the
strengthening
its
own
statehood,"
he
reminded.
Regarding
the
present
political-security
situation
in
the
country,
Crvenkovski
said
that
it
is
much
improved
now,
unlike
few
years
ago
when
Macedonia
was
on
the
edge
of
a
war.
"The
Framework
Agreement
was
a
reasonable
step
that
avoided
the
war,
and
with
which
Macedonians
and
Albanians
should
be
proud
of,"
he
added.
According
to
him
it
is
necessary
to
build
good
inter-ethnic
relations
and
inner
cohesion
for
a
long-term
stability,
security
and
economic
progress.
In
regard
to
the
new
Law
on
Territorial
Organization
and
the
forthcoming
referendum,
Crvenkovski
said
"this
Law
is
not
the
ideal
solution,
but
it
has
been
supported
by
the
largest
parties
of
Macedonians
and
Albanians
that
obtained
a
legitimacy
at
the
2002
parliamentary
elections."
"As
long
as
we
are
trying
to
save
the
Struga's
borders
we
will
loose
the
European
future
of
Macedonia,"
Macedonian
President
stated.
He
expressed
belief
that
the
citizens
will
make
the
right
decision
at
the
forthcoming
referendum,
i.e.
they
will
come
out
for
the
policy
that
lead
to
peace,
stability
and
European
future
and
not
to
returning
to
2001.
"The
return
of
the
Law
on
territorial
organization
from
1996
is
opposite
to
the
Framework
Agreement
implementation,"
Crvenkovski
said
in
the
interview
with
MTV.
PART
2
Macedonian
President
Branko
Crvenkovski
in
late
Sunday's
interview
with
the
Macedonian
Television
(MTV)
assessed
the
Macedonia's
relations
with
the
neighbours
as
balanced,
correct
and
friendly.
"Macedonia's
interest
is
to
have
good-neighbourly
and
regional
co-operation,"
Crvenkovski
said.
Now
the
relations
in
the
region
are
more
balanced
than
in
the
past.
The
relations
with
Bulgaria
are
at
the
highest
level,
Macedonian
President
assessed
underlying
that
two
countries
have
many
mutual
interests.
"All
recidivism
from
the
past
slowly
make
way
to
pragmatism
of
the
future.
We
should
free
from
prejudices
that
were
realistic
in
the
past
that
Macedonia
is
surrounded
by
four
wolves,"
Crvenkovski
said.
Commenting
the
relations
with
Serbia,
President
said
that
on
August
2,
after
10
years,
the
ASNOM
celebration
was
enabled
in
Prohor
Pcinjski
responding
to
two
neighbours'
good
and
friendly
co-operation.
Macedonian
President
said
that
for
Macedonia
it
is
important
Kosovo
to
have
legal
system
and
institutions
that
will
implement
it
and
not
to
remain
a
black
hole
that
will
generate
problems.
Priority
steps
that
should
be
taken
for
prevention
of
possible
spill
over
of
crisis
from
Kosovo
to
Macedonia
are
demarcation
and
definite
recognition
of
the
border
and
Framework
Agreement
implementation,
which
will
prevent
Kosovo
to
be
used
as
an
excuse
for
creation
of
problems
in
Macedonia.
Macedonian
President
said
that
the
relations
with
Albania
are
developing
in
positive
direction
stressing
the
co-operation
between
the
two
countries
in
the
sphere
of
defence
and
security,
which
was
unimaginable
several
years
ago.
The
problem
of
the
situation
of
the
Macedonians
in
Albania
is
in
the
economic-social
sphere.
"Macedonia
urges
people
freely
and
without
pressure
to
declare
for
their
ethnic,
religious
and
language
origin,"
Macedonian
President
said.
The
problem
in
the
relations
with
Greece
still
remains
the
issue
with
the
name,
but
variously
10
years
ago
when
there
was
no
communication
between
the
two
countries
now
the
relations
are
at
the
much
higher
level.
He
hopes
that
the
problem
in
regard
to
the
name
will
very
soon
be
surpassed.
Crvenkovski
reminded
on
the
contribution
that
Greece
gave
as
EU
holder
of
Presidency.
"Greece
at
that
time
succeeded
to
call
attention
to
the
Balkans
and
conclusions
which
were
passed
at
the
EU
Summit
in
Thessaloniki
will
have
far-reaching
positive
influence
on
the
region,"
Macedonian
President
Branko
Crvenkovski
said
in
the
interview
with
MTV.
PART
3
If
we
fail
to
achieve
higher
successes
in
the
plan
of
economy,
the
efforts
for
political
and
security
situation
in
the
country
will
be
in
vain,
Macedonian
President
Branko
Crvenkovski
said
in
Sunday's
interview
with
Macedonian
Television
(MTV).
He
said
that
although
GDP
is
increasing
last
and
this
year,
it
is
not
enough
in
dealing
with
economic
crisis,
poverty
and
unemployment.
"We
need
investments
for
faster
economic
development
but
they
will
be
missing
if
someone
conspires
civil
war
and
destabilisation
of
the
country,"
Crvenkovski
said.
He
expects
creation
of
better
business
climate
in
Macedonia
because
no
one
wants
to
invest
in
unsafe
environment.
