Experts
warn
on
possible
erasing
of
Ohrid
from
UNESCO
list

- Ohrid
will
be
erased
from
UNESCO
list
for
sure,
if
the
current
uncontrolled
housing
aggression
continues,
thus
changing
the
panoramic
image
and
destroying
the
town's
values,
representatives
of
Ohrid
Bureau
and
Museum
say.
According
to
them,
a
reason
enough
for
such
a
decision
is
the
urban
chaos,
high
buildings
in
the
town's
center,
destruction
of
parks
and
green
areas,
and
degradation
of
the
coastal
belt.
They
ask
for
a
moratorium
of
all
construction
activities,
because
the
consequences
are
obvious.
Furthermore,
they
require
the
stoppage
of
partial
urban
plans
for
the
town's
center,
according
to
which
high
buildings
are
constructed
besides
the
lakeshore.
In
addition,
the
green
areas
around
the
town
square
are
destroyed
and
replaced
with
travertine
and
granite.
