Pakistan
Bombing:
Payback
Reality
Macedonia
(Dec

2002,

Uzunov)
SKOPJE,
Macedonia
-
International
Islamic
terrorist
group
Al
Qaeda
yesterday
bombed
Macedonia's
honorary
consulate
in
the
Pakistan
city
of
Karachi
as
payback
for
six
Pakistanis
who
were
killed
in
Macedonia
earlier
this
year
by
that
country's
security
forces.
Santa
Argirova,
spokeswoman
for
the
Macedonian
Foreign
Ministry,
claimed
Al
Qaeda
was
behind
the
bombing
of
the
consulate
building,
which
left
three
people,
all
Pakistani
citizens,
dead.
"The
Macedonian
honorary
Consul,
a
Pakistani,
Bilal
Quereshi,
has
informed
the
foreign
ministry
that
it
was
the
probably
the
work
of
Al
Qaeda,"
she
said.
"There
were
messages
found
on
the
walls
of
the
building
condemning
non-believers
and
praising
Islam;
and
that
the
three
people
had
their
throats
cut
before
the
bomb
went
off.
This
act
was
obviously
performed
by
trained
terrorists."
In
March
this
year,
Macedonian
Police
killed
six
Pakistanis
and
one
Indian
citizen
at
a
roadblock
near
Rastanski
Lozje,
just
outside
the
capital,
Skopje.
It
was
alleged
that
the
seven
had
opened
fire
on
police
as
they
drove
by.
A
quantity
of
arms
and
fundamentalist
Islamic
literature
was
found
in
the
suspected
terrorists'
vehicle.
One
of
the
dead
Pakistanis
was
identified
as
Ahmet
Ikaz,
24,
wanted
by
Interpol
for
acts
of
crime.
The
Macedonian
government
at
the
time
claimed
that
the
foreigners
were
part
of
Mujahadeen
and
Al-Qaeda
military
units
supporting
ethnic
Albanian
guerrillas
in
last
year's
war
between
Macedonian
security
forces
and
Albanian
separatists.
Macedonian
Orthodox
Christians
form
65%
of
Macedonia's
2
million
population;
ethnic
Albanians,
mainly
Sunni
Muslims,
form
25%.
Mr
Borjan
Jovanovski,
a
spokesman
for
the
Macedonian
President,
Boris
Trajkovski,
said
the
President
had
no
idea
who
was
behind
the
incident
and
urged
the
Pakistani
authorities
to
investigate
the
matter
thoroughly.
All
of
Macedonia's
diplomatic
missions
abroad
have
been
put
on
alert
for
any
more
attacks.

Ordinary

belonging
to
all
its
ethnic
groups
(Macedonians,
Albanians,
Vlachs,
Turks,
Rroma,
Serbs,
Bosnians,
and
others)
all

the
same

same
joys,
just
like
they

the

together
for

will
continue
to
do
so
as
soon
as
the
supporters

KLA
and
all
who
promote
violence
are
moved
from
the
scene
and
put
into
jail,
where
they
belong.
