- Members
of
the
U.S.-Adriatic
Charter
Croatia,
Albania,
and
Macedonia
and
the
United
States
held
talks
in
New
York
on
Friday
about
the
steps
the
three
countries
were
taking
in
the
process
of
drawing
closer
to
NATO.
The
meeting
in
New
York
was
attended
by
Foreign
Ministers
of
Macedonia,
Croatia
and
Albania,
Ilinka
Mitreva,
Miomir
Zuzul
and
Kastriot
Islami
and
the
U.S.
Secretary
of
State
Colin
Powell.
The
US
undersecretary
Marc
Grossman
and
assistant
Secretary
of
State
Elisabeth
Jones
also
took
part
at
the
meeting,
clearly
said
that
regardless
of
who
was
in
power,
the
United
States
would
continue
to
support
activities
within
the
U.S.
Adriatic
Charter.
FM
Mitreva
informed
Powell
on
the
reforms
in
the
frameworks
of
the
Annual
National
Program,
which
would
be
presented
in
Brussels
next
week.
Stressing
that
Macedonia,
Albania
and
Croatia
were
contributing
towards
international
security,
Mitreva
expressed
expectation
that
the
three
countries
would
get
an
invitation
to
join
NATO
in
the
next
round
of
Alliances'
expansion.
The
meeting
was
also
attended
by
the
foreign
minister
of
Serbia
and
Montenegro
and
Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Vuk
Draskovic
and
Mladen
Ivanic
respectively.
During
the
talks
it
was
agreed
that
Croatia
would
host
a
meeting
of
the
Adriatic
Charter
member
countries
at
the
ministerial
level.
