23,
2003,

PM
(GMT+01:00)) (MIA) -
Regional
Conference on Border Security and Management, which takes
place in Ohrid, will be closed Friday by adoption of the
Common Platform of the participants.
During
the
technical
session,
the
experts
will
discuss
the
issues
on
border
management
and
will
identify
the
practical
measures
which
SEE
countries
should
undertake,
but
will
also
point
out
how
NATO,
OSCE,
EU
and
Stability
Pact
could
support
their
efforts.
The
conference
should
result
in
development
measures
for
coherent
approach
towards
border
security
and
management
in
the
region.
Macedonian
Defence
Minister
will
meet
with
Paul
Johns,
State
Department
Director
of
the
Agency
for
South
and
Central
Europe.
An
agreement
between
the
Republic
of
Macedonia
and
Serbia/Montenegro
for
opening
new
border
crossings
has
been
signed
within
the
frameworks
of
the
conference.
It
is
about
border
crossings
Tanusevci-Debalde
and
Strezimir-Restelica.
In
this
direction
a
memorandum
on
technical
details
is
signed
with
UNMIK.
This
conference
is
the
best
proof
that
we
have
common
objectives
and
interests
for
the
future
development,"
Crvenkovski
emphasized.
He
stated
that
that
the
economic
growth
would
have
positive
influence
on
reducing
of
unemployment,
thus
canceling
part
of
the
security
dangers,
while,
"free
movement
of
people
and
capital
will
bring
nations
closer,
and
contribute
in
greater
understanding
and
tolerance".
"The
big
challenges
in
the
region
are
organized
crime,
money
laundering,
tax
evasion,
trafficking
with
narcotics,
weapons
and
people,
as
well
as
other
criminal
activities.
The
Balkans
is
an
example
that
organized
crime
is
transnational
in
principle,"
Crvenkovski
emphasized.
According
to
him,
the
countries
in
the
region
should
not
ask
what
Europe
and
USA
should
do
for
them,
but
what
they
can
do
for
themselves.
"We
must
not
miss
this
chance,
and
we
should
strive
for
faster
introduction
of
European
standards
at
the
borders
for
all
Southeast
Europe
people.
We
expect
that
the
practical
results
of
this
conference
will
essentially
contribute
in
our
faster
accession
in
NATO
and
the
European
Union",
Crvenkovski
stated.
