Popov wins Macedonian player of the year again!

News.ssport.net (Dec 26, 2002) - The Macedonian Football Federation (MFF) has named FK Belasica GC's Robert Popov as Macedonia's player of the year for a second successive year.

The Macedonian international midfield player also took the title last year and joins Zoran Boskovski of FK Sileks (1993,1994) and Nedzmedin Memedi of FK Sloga Jugomagnat and Sileks (1995, 1999) as a two-time winner of the accolade.

"I am pleased with this award and I will give my best to be better next year," Popov said. "I hope that Belasica can finally succeed next year and take the championship title. I also hope that the Macedonian national team will get even better result than this year."

The coach of the year award went to Mirsad Jonuz after he took FK Pobeda to their first ever Macedonian Cup victory in 2001/02. PFC CSKA Sofia's Artim Saciri, one of the scorers in Macedonia's historic 2-2 draw with England in UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 7, scooped the award for best Macedonian player playing abroad.
