Upwey Urban Fire Brigade - (Country Fire Authority)
Peter Marke has a long and distinguished volunteer career with Victoria's
Country Fire Authority where he has gained extensive
command experience at officer level since 1959 and as Captain of the
Upwey Fire
Brigade since 1973. This breadth of experience, coupled with Peter's
outstanding commitment to the fire service and the local community contributed
to his appointment to the CFA Board during May 2004.
The Dandenong Ranges are recognised internationally for their vulnerability
to major bushfires. This has provided Peter with extensive experience in large
scale command and resource management under disaster conditions. Peter has also
served as a CFA representative on the Yarra Ranges Municipal Fire
Prevention Committee for many years which, together with his Fire Brigade
responsibilities, necessitated extensive involvement in the development and
reviews of the Municipal Fire Prevention and Emergency management Plans.
