MULTISTANDED PTFE/Teflon INSULATED COPPER WIRE

Comprising of 16 strands of 0.2 mm Copper laid in a helix within a PTFE/Teflon sheath. Outside diameter is 1.5 mm. Sounds like a main course - heh ! this stuff is ideal for internal wiring af amps etc. It even make a pretty impressive interconnect for line level audio and surprisingly digital a few cable designs are included to get you started. NOTE this is NOT silver plated just pure copper.

Sonics

Anything we say is going to cause some bitter debate so if you dissagree with our summary then - tough.

Generally speaking pure copper wiring seems to exhibit a slightly warm tone. ( in comparison to other types ) its hard to put into words but i liken it to the high end sound of the late eighties big, full and rich - but not with an overblown way. This cable exhibits a slight rosey air to the top end and would probably suit those with an ear to warmth and musicallity. Alternatively if your system is prone to slight harshness or siblience or if you have some solid state components or metal coned speaker drivers.

Cable design

For some reason which we havent yet worked out this cable makes a good digital interconnect but only in 750 mm lengths cheak out cable design number one. For analog interconects try design number two.

Price AUD 5.00 per metre, copper loaded solder to suit AUD 1.00 per metre.

SOLID CORE PURE SILVER WIRE & PTFE/Teflon SPHEGGETTI INSULATION

Either 1.0 mm or 0.5 mm fine silver wire, locally drawn from ingot. The spheggeti tube is extruded PTFE sized to suit the wire. However, the wire stiffness makes it impractical to feed more than say 3 m of wire through each tube. This limits the maximum length of the cables you can build. a bit of nail polish on the ends to seal and reduce oxidation and your done.

Sonics

Well a lot has been said about silver wire over the last few years. I give you my impressions. Silver exhibits a ruthless character in the right system it can provide unsurpassed transparency but your system has to be really on the ball. if you've got untamed metal cone drivers or some slightly hard solid state amplification then consider the pure copper above. But, if youve got single ended triodes and your after the full sonic thrill then silver will give transparency and focus like no other.

Cable design

Both designs one and two work well with the silver but the my preference is for design two as this provides a very good analog interconnect. Note that the silver can be work hardened and break easily so be careful and dont bend it too much.

Price

1.0 mm diameter silver wire & PTFE/Teflon spheggetti tube to suit AUD 12.00 per metre.

0.5 mm diameter silver wire & PTFE/Teflon spheggetti tube to suit AUD 7.00 per metre.

Silver loaded solder to suit AUD 1.50 per metre.

CABLE DESIGNS

Two designs are described here. Both are fairly straight ford and hard to muck up.

Design one

This is as simple as it gets, for some reason this works great with the copper wire described above. But only when the final length is around 750 mm thats 30 inches for the USA. Its not shielded but seems to work OK in most domestic environments.

Design two

A bit more complex and generally worth the effort this makes a good line level interconnect.
